Day
1. Arrive ANGERS.
Collection
at the Railway station: transport to Blaison-Gohier. Your hosts
are Claude and Jacqueline Blanchard at the small hamlet of Le
Clos de la Touche in the charming village ofBlaison Gohier. Evening
meal and accommodation in their 18th century farm house.

2. Explore from BLAISON-GOHIER 19ml(30km)
Enjoy
a first local loop tour, as a "warm-up ride" day. Test
your bikes, maps, road-book and make sure everything is tuned.
Visit a beautiful chateau in the vicinity. Return to Le Clos de
la Touche for dinner.
Day 3. BLAISON-GOHIER - LES
VERCHERS-SUR-LAYON 25ml(40km)
Today’s excursion takes you away from the Loire into the
wooded country to the south. Visit vineyards on the way to Doué-la-Fontaine,
the city of the roses. Enjoy the beautiful landscape of rose gardens
as you cycle to Les Verchers-sur-Layon where Marie and John welcome
you into their beautiful family mansion house. Dinner is cooked
by Marie while John introduces you to wine tasting.

4. LES VERCHERS-SUR-LAYON - SAUMUR 25ml(40km)
Make your way across country at a leisurely pace enjoying the
scenery, charming villages, forests and vineyards to reach the
historic town of Montreuil Bellay situated on the River Thouet:continue
to the famous chateau of Brézé where you visit the
underground cellars and enjoy a wine tasting! Your overnight accommodation
is nearby in Saumur where Jackie and Jean-Marc are your hosts.
Choose your own location for dinner in downtown Saumur.

5. SAUMUR - CHINON 16ml(25km)
A short cycle today to allow time to explore the towering Chateau
at Montsoreau and reach Fontevraud. Here you will find France’s
most Royal Abbey. It is beautifully preserved with a sober abbey
church, cloisters, and refectory. In the church there are tombstone
effigies of the Plantagenets, Henry II, Richard the Lionheart
and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Apart from cave-like homes look out
for wine cellars, mushroom farms, and underground restaurants.
A visit to Troglo Tap is a must - here the old craft of roasting
apples has been revived. Arrive at Chinon and enjoy a beautiful
evening in the welcoming atmosphere of the old town. Dinner at
a restaurant of your choice.
Day 6. CHINON - VILLANDRY 25ml(40km)
Cycle through the forest, see the Sleeping Beauty Chateau at Rigny-Ussé
and continue along the dyke beside the River Loire to visit the
Chateaux of Langeais or Azay-le-Rideau . At Villandry the world
famous chateau and gardens are the highlight of your tour. Accommodation
is at the local welcoming inn with a gourmet dinner included.
Day 7. VILLANDRY - BLAISON-GOHIER 25ml(40km)
Begin your return journey along the banks of the Loire and use
local train from Tours or Langeais to shorten your cycling day.
Spend the afternoon shopping in Saumur before a last night with
Claude and Jacqueline at "Le Clos de la Touche".
