1. Arrive BERWICK-UPON-TWEED
Explore this historic town including the Barracks and Elizabethan
Fortifications, the Borough Museum and Art Gallery and the KOSB
Regimental Museum. Evening: collect cycles and route briefing.

2. BERWICK-UPON-TWEED
- COLDSTREAM
22ml(35km)
A
short distance from Berwick the route joins the River Tweed and
there is a chance to visit Paxton House and Chain Bridge Honey
Farm: continuing visit ruined Norham Castle and perhaps the Railway
Museun at the former station. Cross the bridge to enter Scotland
and its only a short distance to Coldstream with its Museum and
the Hirsel Country Park. River

3. COLDSTREAM - ST BOSWELLS 21ml(34km)
Cycle
along the gentle rolling countryside to the picturesque country
town of Kelso and visit Floors Castle, Scotland's largest inhabited
house: continue to the elegant town square and ruined Abbey. An
easy ride now to the overnight stop at St Boswells near Dryburgh. Kelso>>>>

4. ST BOSWELLS - WALKERBURN 17ml(27km)
Aslight
detour is required if you wish to visit the majestic ruined Dryburgh
Abbey in its
tranquil setting by the wide River Tweed. Journey on to the next
border abbey at Melrose and
from there on the cyclepath to Galashiels where a visit to Lochcarron
Visitor Centre to see the working cashmere mill is recommended.
Leaving Galashiels the route again follows the Tweed to cross
the river at Walkerburn.

5. WALKERBURN - DALKEITH 28ml(45km)
It
is only a short distance from Walkerburn to Innerleithen for a
visit to the old Robert Small's Printing Works and St Ronan's
Wells. The scenic climb from Innerleithen over the Moorfoot Hills
is gradual but six miles long!

6. DALKEITH - EDINBURGH 13/20ml(21/32km)
It
is only a short ride into Edinburgh on the cycle path but it is
well worth making a diversion from Dalkeith to visit medieval
Rosslyn Chapel.

Visit
the Castle, Holyrood Palace, Scottish Parliament, the National
Gallery etc., the list is endless.......
