Day 1. Arrive PASSAU: embarkation from 1700hrs. In the evening welcome cocktail and dinner with live music.

EngelhartszellDay 2. PASSAU- Schlogen - LINZ

You bike on the Danube cycle path alongside the river passing the monastery of Engelhartszell and continue to Schlogen. Rejoin the ship and let yourself relax on the sun deck while the ship takes you through the romantic Schlogener loop and sail to the capital of Upper Austria, Linz. After dinner there is an optional sight-seeing tour with 'city-express'

Day 3. LINZ - MAUTHAUSEN - GREIN

MS Theodor & CyclistsToday's bike tour takes you directly along the Danube where you have enough time to enjoy the natural state of the meadow landscape. The celtic town Mitterkirchen gives you an insight of the past. The alternative route "Clam Castle" through the beautiful back country of the "Strudengau" is slightly  hilly, but a fantastic landscape. Grein is the destination of today's stage and there is an option to visit Austria's oldest city theatre and the Castle of Grein.

 

Day 4. GREIN - MELK - TULLN 32ml(51km)      
You bike through the "Strudengau"- an unspoilt part of the Danube, passing the pilgrimage village of Maria Taferi to reach your destination, Melk with its georgeous baroque Benedictine monastery. On board you enjoy the sunset over the Wachau until you reach Tullun.

Day 5. TULLN - VIENNA 22ml(35km)
Today you ride to Vienna, the capital of Austria. Before reaching Vienna you will see numerous garden and weekend settlements and the well known Augustinian canon convent, Klosterneuburg. "Kahlenbergdorf" with its wine taverns is only a short distance from the shipping pier and worth a visit.

 

Day 6. VIENNA - CITY TOUR BY BIKE          

Optional city tour by Bike approximately 3hours, or by bus which can be reserverd on board, begins shortly after breakfast leaving the afternoon free to stroll or visit one of the viennese coffee bars or the entire day to discover this beautiful city. Perhaps stroll through the Hofburg and visit the Sisi museum. Evening possibilities include a Waltz and Opera Concert at the Wiener Kursalon which can be booked on board.

 

Day 7. WACHAU - KREMS - EMMERSDORF 22ml(36km)
Your last cycle trip is a special highlight. Surrounded by small dreamy towns, apricot trees, vineyards, castles and monasteries. There is something here to enchant everyone. In Spitz there are comfortable wine taverns beside the cycle path for a relaxing stop. Continue to Emmersdorf before your board the ship for a relaxed trip on board as once again you pass through the beautiful Danube valley. Fun and entertainment await you in the evening with a folklore show.

 

Day 8. Depart PASSAU

Once more you enjoy the peacefulness of the Danube valley. You get a last look at the Schlogener loop before you disembark in Passau at approx. 1230hrs

 

Schedule: In case of flood or low tide the shipping company reserves the right to bridge parts of passages with buses. In extreme cases  the shipping company reserves the right to cancel the journey on short notice. No legal right shall be constituted of both situations (Water level is force majeure).  The same applies for officially ordered (previously not announced) repair work on locks or bridges or in case of undeserved breakdown of engine and power unit.Please be aware that your ship MV Theodor Körner, like all other ships on the Danube, is not only your hotel but also a machine, working with engine power also during night. Especially crossing locks and bridges – and the preparation work – might cause noises. If you are sensitive to noises please bring your own earplugs.We reserve the right to change the Schedule when low/high water bars the ship from passing through a certain area. Some parts can be negotiated by bus (free of charge)

The MS Theodor Korner - your companion throughout the tour is a very comfortable ship with a cosy interior. The ship offers a restaurant, a panorma-bar, a Viennese Coffee Bar with sunny patio as well as a broad sun deck with comfortable deck-chairs. Books and magazines from our library provide relaxation The cabin size is approximately 9-10 square metres and all are ensuite (shower & toilet). They have TV, radio and air conditioning. Cabins available have 2 beds side by side or bunk beds. The ship has three decks - Passau (bottom), Linz (middle) and Wien (top). Technical details: Built 1965, renovated 1998, lenght 87m, breadth 17, speed 25km per hour, 65 cabins and a maximum of 135passengers.

  • 42 to 83 days prior to holiday date:- 30% of total cost
  • 28 to 41 days prior to holiday date:- 60% of total cost
  • 14 to 27 days prior to holiday date:- 90% of total cost
