Day
1. Arrive LJUBLJANA
Explore its old town centre and majestic castle.
Perhaps take a stroll by the river and have a drink at one of
the many cafes.
Day
2. LJUBLJANA - VRHNIKA 25/36ml(40/58km)
Collect
cycles and briefing.
Set off
across the Ljubjansko Barje, a large flat former marsh area surrounding
the capital. Take a short walk into the beautiful Vintar Gorge
nature reserve and at Borovnica see the remains of the worlds
highest railway viaduct partly destroyed in WW2. At the Technical
Museum there is a great hunting collection and an exhibition of
Tito's vintage cars.

3. VRHNIKA - POSTOJNA 21/27ml(34/44km)
Today
you cycle through typical Karst fields on quiet roads away from
the main tourist routes.Enjoy
a picnic lunch in the beautiful surroundings of the Rakov Skocjan
Nature reserve before continuing to Posojna.
Day 4. POSTAJNA - STANJEL 28/34ml(45/55km)
Visit the famous Postonjna caves, carved by water over millions
of years. There is a special cave train for the trip into these
spectacular limestone caverns. Nearby is Predjama Castle built
into the side of a 120m cliff. It has a museum and ancient armoury.
Cycle to the village of Stanjel.

5. Rest day STANJEL
Relax,
visit Stanjel village, a
preservation site of well kept old houses and the nearbyWorld
War 2
Isonzo battlefields. At the hotel enjoy the atmosphere 
and
fine views as you dine on the local Cart Ham with tasty wine from
the hotel cellar.
Day
6. STANJEL - LIPICA 23ml(37km)
Cycle to Sezena and visit the botanic gardens: continue to the stud farm of Lipica which has a 400
year tradition of breeding
the famous white horses.
At Lokev there is a very interesting
war museum in
the village tower. Enjoy an excellent display at
the riding show of Lipicaner horses or perhaps take a carriage
ride.

7 LIPICA - KOPER 37ml(60km)
All downhill from the Carst high plateau now to
Trieste. Enjoy
a snack at one of its old fashioned cafés and visit the
castle, Cathedral and Piaza Unita central square before continuing
to Koper. Alternatively cycle in Slovenia through the quiet countryside valley of Hrastovlje 34ml(55km)
