Day 1. Arrive KRAKOW: One of the most beautiful cities of Eastern Europe, Krakow was once Poland's capital. If time permits visit the Royal Castle, Wawel Cathedral, the Marian church or stroll through the old town. Your 3 star hotel is in the old town centre.

Day 2. KRAKOW - ZAKOPANE 16/19ml(25/30km)

In the morning we collect our cycles and begin our tour of Krakow. Experience the wonderful atmosphere of this city and explore the historical architecture of many fine bulidings. At 1200hrs we board our bus for a 2 hour journey to the village of Zab, the highest in Poland. We cycle to Gubalowka and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Tatra Mountains, weather permitting! We continue down the mountain where the Poroniec and Zakopoanka rivers join the White Dunajec and cycle through the village of Olcza to reach our destination for today, Zakopane. The folk culture of the people who live in the Tatras 'the Gorale' has been preserved in their music, songs and local costume.

Day 3. ZAKOPANE - LOPUSZNA 37ml(60km)
Enjoy the scenery as we take the cable cab back to Gubalowka. Then we cycle down through the village of Dzianisz to reach Chocholow, a village which is now a 'living open-air museum' of vernacular timber architecture. Perhaps stop here for lunch before a short climb to the valley of Cichy Potok 'the quiet stream'. We continue downhill along the quiet path, through the villages of Ciche, Stare Bystre and Ludzmierz to the town of Nowy Targ, the main centre for the Gorale. Not far from Nowy Targ, we cycle past the point where the White and Black Dunajec rivers meet. The route from here continues by a riverside path to the historic villages of Waksmund and Lopuszna. At Lopuszna we spend the night in a guest house at the edge of the forest.

Day 4. LOPUSZNA - NIEDZICA 19ml(30km)
Today we cycle south and follow the course of the Bialka, a third mountain river flowing into the Dunajec. Here we see its impressive gorge near Nowa Biala. At Debno perhaps visit one of the oldest wooden churches in Poland, with an impressive painted interior. You are now in the region of Spisz, which has a rich history and unique culture. Until 1918 this area was part of Hungary, and for many centuries it was home to several ethnic groups: Gorale and Ruthenians lived in the villages, Germans in the towns, and the Hungarian nobility in the castles. Following the bank of the reservoir we pass one of these castles and reach Niedzica and spend the night in a nearby hotel.

Day 5. NIEDZICA - SZCZAWNICA 22/25ml(35/40km)

In the morning visit one of the castles and then cycle to the village of Kacwin, a typical Hungarian village with unusal architecture. We cross the border into Slovakia and cycle to the village of Cerveny Klastor - 'Red Monastery'. Admire the highest point of the Pieniny mountain range, the imposing three peaks of Trzy Korony - 'Three Crowns'. Then we cycle along the "Pieniny Way" (walkers and cyclists only), a narrow ledge carved out of the cliff running the whole length of the Dunajec Gorge. The breathtaking limestone cliffs and scenery awaits you and you will feel like you are in a different world. Next you cycle through another gorge 'Lesnicky Potok' to reach the village of Lesnica before you enter Poland and reach the small spa town of Szczawnica.

Day 6. SZCZAWNICA - RYTRO 37ml(60km)

Today we follow what is known as the 'Green Dunajec Gorge' where the river passes between two Beskid mountain ranges. Although there are no stone cliff walls here, the slopes with their beech woods are still impressive. We cycle across a suspension bridge to the right bank making our way between the paths among the farm villages of Tylmanowa. We stop for a break and a meal in Zabrzez. At Golkowice we leave the Dunajec and cycle to Rytro, an old village at the foot of castle ruins. The night is spent in a small hotel on the shady banks of the Poprad, a tributary of the Dunajec. In the evening we have a camp fire with grilled trout fresh from the water.

Day 7. RYTRO - KRAKOW 9/16ml(15/25km)
After breakfast we take a 10km ride through the Poprad Valley to Stary Sacz. The morning is spent exploring this historic little town, one of the most beautiful in Southern Poland. Here we can breathe in the atmosphere and discover the maze of narrow streets by bike. We continue by bus to the neighbouring town of Nowy Sacz. The neo-gothic town hall in the beautiful market square dates from the 'Habsburg Empire' and the streets are lined with well restored Art Nouveau houses. From Nowy Sacz we return to Krakow by bus, approximately 1.5 - 2 hours.
