Day 1. Arrive HILVERSUM: explore this city noted for its gardens and fine trees. Collect cycles, maps and route(no briefing).

Day 2. HILVERSUM - VOLDENDAM/PURMEREND 37ml(60km)
Travel north to Muiden on the busy River Vecht and visit the historic castle. After passing through the suburbs of Amsterdam cross the causeway leading to the picturesque island of Marken with its painted wooden houses built on stilts. At Monnickendam there is a 15th century church and town hall tower with clockwork figures.

Day 3. VOLDENDAM/PURMEREND - MEDEMBLIK 39ml(63km)
Voldendam is noted for its fine lace and costumesand nearby Edam, world famous for cheese, is an outstandingly picturesque old town with canals, drawbridges and many fine buildings. Continue to Hoorn, one of the most attractive towns in Holland, and visit the West Freis Museum. At Enkhuizen the Zuiderzee Museum tells the story of the people who lived by its shores.

Day 4. MEDEMBLIK - MAKKUM 38ml(62km)
A long straight ride today across the Ijsselmeer on the 30km long "Afsluitdijk" to reach the province of Friesland and the village of Makkum. It is well known for its ceramic industry with a ceramic museum and factory visitor centres.

Day 5. MAKKUM - ECHTENERBRUG 41ml(66km)
Cycle along the west coast of Friesland through an area of marches,reedy broads and canals to reach the pleasant village of Echtenerbrug.

Day 6. ECHTENERBURG - KAMPEN 37ml(60km)
Leave the IJsselmeer today on the old sea dyke to the nature reserve of the Weerribben, past the lively harbour and marina at Blokzijl to reach the old small town of Kampen. Take the opportunity to visit its historic buildings with their towers and spires.

Day 7. KAMPEN - HARDERWIJK 28ml(46km)
Cycle by the shore of the Randmeer past the lively small town of Elburg to arrive atHarderwijk, once a busy fishing town and port, it is now separated from the sea by reclaimed land. Enjoy the Veluws Museum with its local history and the large Dolphinarium with its fish, sealions, walrus and dolphins.

Day 8. HARDERWIJK - HILVERSUM 33ml(53km)
Journey through the old fishertown of Spakenburg where many women still wear their traditional costume. End your unforgettable tour in Hilversum.
