Cyclist in ItalyDay 1. Arrive VICENZA

Arrive at your hotel and explore this beautiful town with its cosy historical centre characterised by the buildings of the famous architect Andrea Palladio. Perhaps visit Villa Capra "La Rotonda" Like other work by Palladio in Vicenza, it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.

Day 2. VICENZA - BASSANO DEL GRAPPA 25ml(40km)

Spend some of the morning exploring Vicenza which has several fine churches and secular buildings. From Vicenza we cycle along the venetian fields heading to Sandrigo then onwards to Marostica, famous for it's castle and the cheeseboard in the main square. Our destination for today is Bassano del Grappa with its covered wooden bridge, or Ponte degli Alpini, on the Brenta River, designed in 1569 by the architect Andrea Palladio.

Day 3. BASSANO DEL GRAPPA - TREVISO 39ml(62km)
We cycle east today over gentle hills to the town of Asolo, which presents us with the only real uphill section of our tour for less than 1 mile. It is known as 'The Pearl Province of Treviso' and the town has a spectacular mountain setting. It is rich in history and there are remains of an amphitheatre. We continue downhill to the Prosecco vineyards and on to Maser. Our cycling adventure for today finishes in the attractive town of Treviso. The town is circled by a town wall and waterways. The river Sile runs to the south of the centre and canals carry water around the town, lined with houses or grassy banks, weeping willows, waterwheels and little parks, this is surely one of Italy's prettist town.

VeniceDay 4. TREVISO - MESTRE 24ml(38km)

Leaving Treviso you follow the silent course of the river Sile to Casale. This is the most beautiful stretch of the tour, abounding in nature with small villages reflecting on the river. Perhaps stop at and admire the 'Cemetery of the Burcis' cimitero dei Burci. The burcis are old barges, which now lay semi sunken in an lively river fauna consisting of a variety of different waterfowls. At the end of this stage Venice awaits you with an evening between small lanes and canals. Overnight stay is in Mestre. By paying a supplement it is possible to stay in Venice.

Day 5. MESTRE - CHIOGGIA 20ml(33km)
Today we cycle across the 4km bridge 'Della Liberta' into Venice, a city of painted palaces and serene churches. It has canals instead of streets and boats replace buses. Spend some time exploring the many sights of Venice, will it be some of it's fine palaces, churches or museums. From Tronchetto harbour we take a ferry along the canal to Lido.
This is the most exciting day of the tour, cycling along the two little narrow islands which separate the sea and the lagoon. From Lido you ride to Malamocco, the first seat of the republic of the Doges, today it is a region humming of modern life. Another ferry will take us to the isle of Pellestrina with its natural oasis from the Roman period. A third boarding will take us to Chioggia, our destination for today.

Padova Della ValleDay 6. CHIOGGIA - PADOVA 37ml(60km)

A cycle through the countryside on quiet lanes beside the two rivers, Bacchiglione and Brenta. Along with the river Sile, these were the main trading routes in this venetian region centuries ago. We continue pass the small locality Strà, famous for the 'Villa Pisani', the most majestic villa of the Brenta. Our destination today is Padova. This city is one of the cultural and economic centres in the Northeast. It is a pilgrimage city and millions of pilgrims come here every year to visit the "Basilica di Sant’Antonio", where the grave of "Saint Antonio" is preserved.

Day 7. PADOVA - VICENZA 30ml(48km)

During this last day you cycle by the river Bacchiglione out of the city to reach Costozza, a small town at the foot of the Berici Hills. We continue on the cycle path which passes Villa Rotonda, the most famous Palladian villas, through the rolling lush green landscape of Veneto to reach Vicenza once more. Just before you reach Vicenza perhaps visit the Villa Valmarama ai Nani with its marvellous frescoes by Tiepala.

Day 8. Depart VICENZA
