Kerry sceneryDay 1. Arrive KILLARNEY. Perhaps visit Ross Castle a wonderfully restored 16th Century Norman Tower House overlooking Lough Leane.Your tour package is already waiting for you at your accommodation. Evening Collect cycles.

 

Day 2. KILLARNEY - KENMARE 23ml(37km)

The route follows a cycle track through Muckross House and Gardens. From there continue between the famous Lakes of Killarney before climbing through Molls Gap in between the beautiful mountains. In the afternoon cycle to Kenmare.

 

Coastal SceneDay 3. KENMARE - EYERIES/ALLIHIES 31ml(50km)
Leave Kerry and follow the spectacular coast road along the Beara Peninsula and possibly stop at a small pierside pub for lunch. In the afternoon continue to the beautiful village of Allihies. It was once the centre of a rich copper mining industry with technicians coming from Cornwll in the 19th century. You can still see the remains of the "Cornish Village".

 

Day 4. EYERIES/ALLIHIES - CASTLETOWNBERE 38ml(61km)
Follow the beautiful Bearra Peninsula coastline to Castletownbere where you spend the next two days. Either spend the afternoon there or take a circular ride around the Bearra Way, a wonderful quiet ride with an ever changing landscape.

 

Coastal cycleDay 5. Rest day CASTLETOWNBERE

Choose from a wide variety of activities. Take a ferry across to Bear Island and spend the day exploring by bike or visit the nearby ruins of Dunboy Castle and Puxley Manor located in a wonderful setting by the sea. Finally for those who are feeling fit there is a challenging hike up the Hungry Hill ,offering the most spectacular views of Bantry Bay. Alternatively you could just spend the afternoon pottering around the village.

 

                          
Cyclists at PubDay 6. CASTLETOWNBERE - GOUGANE BARRA 32ml(51km)
Cycle inland to our hotel in Gougane Barra, which is in isolated splendor, overlooking the lake in this dramatic glacial valley. It is Irelands first National Park and the source of the River Lee. It is a beautiful, peaceful place and an ideal setting forthe last night in the country before heading back to the hussle and bustle of the great metropolis of Killarney!

 

Day 7. GOUGANE BARRA - KILLARNEY 35ml(57km)
Heading homeward on little-known roads with swimming stops in river pools along the way, return to Killarney and a night on the town.

 

Day 8 Depart KILLARNEY.
